
The Founder

Manjary Dance Group, a troupe founded by Smt. Tatini Das who reside in the northeastern part of India- Guwahati, Assam.
Smt. Tatini Das is a Bharatnatyam exponent from Guwahati, Assam. She is a graded artist for
Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati. She is also actively engaged in promoting Assam’s classical dance tradition, Sattriya, under the guidance of
Padmashree Bayanacharya Sri Ghanakanta Bora Borbayan. In order to realize her vision, she has
established the Manjary Dance Academy, where she trains students in Bharatnatyam. Additionally,
the students also train in Sattriya under Smt. Kakali Bezbaruah.
Smt. Das is the director of the Manjary Dance Troupe, that has earned critical acclaim for its
Bharatnatyam and Sattriya performances across the country. In order to bring Indian classical dance
closer to a wide audience, she organizes the Kameshwari Nritya Mahotsav and Rhythm Indian Classical
Dance Festival every year.
Smt. Tatini Das’s production, “Chandalika,” a dance-drama, was staged at Bangladesh, and received
rave reviews. Another dance-drama choreographed by her, titled “Draupadiyam,” was presented by her
troupe at a program organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External
Affairs, Govt. of India. Besides, Smt. Das has collaborated with the Assistant High Commissioner
of Bangladesh, and choreographed dance pieces to celebrate the spirit of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
These compositions have been presented at both India and Bangladesh, forging a cultural tie
between both nations. Moreover, she has also performed at the NEZCC, organized by the Ministry
of Culture in memory of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. She was also invited by the Bengali Association to
perform at Thailand. Smt. Das offers her dance at the Krishna Janmashtami Utsav, organized by
the Hare Krishna Movement, ISKCON, at Guwahati each year.
